Today was the Feast of the Holy Trinity. The past few sessions have been small - three kids or so-, so I thought I would do something a little more complicated because I would be able to help them make their craft. Big mistake! But more on that later.
I thought I would look for symbols of the Trinity. Lots came up for St. Patrick and his shamrock. St. Patrick’s Day was two months earlier at this point, so I didn’t want to do that. I came across the Triquetra, in particular this version:
I thought it would work well with pipecleaners. I managed to make a “template” Triquetra to follow. I also thought it would be useful for the kids to have a picture to go with the Triquetra, so I chose this one:
So, naturally because I had assumed there wouldn’t be lots of kids, there was a huge crowd of kids there. I ended up having to make all of the Triquetras because the kids had too much difficulty working on them and there was only one other adult (who was also having a difficult time with it). It ended up looking really good, but I don’t think I would do it again, due to its complexity and time requirements. It might be worthwhile for teachers of older children, though.
