Today’s Gospel was about the Miraculous Catch. I had to look around quite a bit for something suitable, but I stumbled across this:

On pages 9 & 10, there are instructions for popsicle stick puppets. They looked like they would be a good match - some simple colouring followed by gluing popsicle sticks. I also read a bit about the lesson. The writer is coming from the Episcopalian (i.e. Anglican) perspective, but the story itself certainly has a universal appeal, in particular, how often we continue doing what we know after we have big experiences, and how that ends up being a fruitless endeavour, while if we listen to what God wants for us, we will receive in abundance.

I started off by reading the Gospel passage. I had chopped off the first paragraph (John 21:1-3). In retrospect, that was a bit too much. I should have started at John 21:3. I stopped at
“That disciple whom Jesus loved said ‘It is the Lord’”.
While we were colouring and gluing on the sticks, we discussed how the disciples listened to Jesus and they ended up with a lot of fish.

What does this mean for us? That if we listen to God and follow what we feel is our calling, we will receive what we are looking for.
This particular craft was a good one. It took the right amount of time and was not too difficult.
