With February 1st being the Fouth Sunday in Ordinary Time, today we chose to focus on the Feast Day of St. Brigid of Ireland instead. Often considered one of the patron saints of Ireland, along with St. Patrick, St. Brigid was born into a life of slavery around the year 451 AD. She dedicated her life to God at an early age, and helped found a monastery at Kildare in the year 480 AD. One of St. Brigid's many miracles is the baptism of a man on his deathbed, in which she calmed his delirium by forming a Celtic cross out of reeds.
Today's activity was forming the cross - commonly known as Brigid's cross - out of pipecleaners.
