Due to the fact that the Fourth Sunday of Lent is rather nondescript for the children, instead we decided to focus on St. Patrick's day, despite it falling on a Tuesday this year. At least this way the children will understand the original meaning behind the celebration.
Today, Patrick: The Patron Saint of Ireland by Tomie de Paola was read to the children. The book describes Patrick’s life, his enslavement in Ireland, his escape and his return to Ireland to convert the Irish. It also describes some of his more outlandish legends, including floating to Ireland on a stone.

After the story was read, we did the following craft...
The night before, [Caroline] cut out the green hearts for the shamrock. We had foam sticker crosses and foam craft sheets, so instead of using paper for the heart, cross and dove, the foam sticker crosses were used, then scrapbooking punches were used to create the hearts and doves. Gluing the craft together as well as reading the story took up all the time we had easily, so the earlier prep was very important.
